Simon was born and raised in New Mexico and is an alumnus of the University of New Mexico where he earned both his undergraduate and law degrees. Prior to attending law school, he worked as an AmeriCorps apprentice with the local rape crisis center where he became committed to fighting for justice through public and community service.  As a law student, he worked with New Mexico Legal Aid’s low-income Tax Payer Clinic and also participated in UNM’s Community Lawyering Clinic for which he earned clinical honors. Following graduation, Simon joined the New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender as a line attorney in the Metropolitan Court division and primarily defended DWI and domestic violence cases. Today, he is a staff attorney with Disability Rights New Mexico where his practice focuses on employment discrimination, special education, guardianship defense, and Medicaid.
